Scale Faster with VLOOKUP Recipes in Monday

Imagine you’ve built a perfect workflow: a CRM board, onboarding pipeline, or project tracker that uses VLOOKUP to connect data across boards. Now you want to reuse that system across multiple clients, teams, or projects.

But setting up every VLOOKUP recipe again from scratch? That’s a productivity killer.

Why This Matters

When you scale processes in monday.com, you want to reuse workflows—not rebuild them. If your boards rely on VLOOKUP for cross-board linking, it’s essential that:

  • Recipes carry over with the template
  • Field mappings remain relevant and easy to relink
  • You avoid repeating the same setup over and over

VLOOKUP supports this need by allowing auto-link recipes to duplicate inside board templates.

The Solution: Use VLOOKUP with Board Templates

You can create one “master board” with all your recipes, then duplicate it as a template across teams, projects, or clients—without losing your integration setup.

It’s like scaling your automation without writing it twice.

Here’s How to Do It

Requirements:

Before you begin, make sure:

  • The VLOOKUP app is installed on both your template board and the boards you’ll duplicate.
  • All columns used in the recipes exist in the boards you’re duplicating.
  • Your user has the correct permissions to create and manage integrations.

Step 1: Build Your Template Board

Set up your ideal structure:

  • Include all the fields you’ll need (text, status, people, connected board columns)
  • Set up VLOOKUP recipes between that board and a sample “target” board

Step 2: Add Auto-Link Recipes

Within your template board:

  • Go to the VLOOKUP app view
  • Create your auto-link recipes using placeholder or example boards
  • Confirm that recipes work as expected

Step 3: Save as Template

Once you’re satisfied with your board structure and VLOOKUP setup:

  • Click the three-dot menu on the board name
  • Select “Save as template”

This saves both the board layout and the integration logic.

Step 4: Duplicate the Template

When you’re ready to use the template:

  • Create a new board from the saved template
  • Update the VLOOKUP recipes with your new target board references
  • Adjust column mapping if needed

Your field structure and automation logic will be intact—saving you time and setup effort.

The Result: Less Rework, More Scale

Use cases:

  • Agencies creating a new client workspace
  • HR teams onboarding across departments
  • Sales orgs managing region-based pipelines
  • Ops teams cloning internal request flows

With VLOOKUP recipes carried over in board templates, you’ll set up once—and reuse forever.

Recap

VLOOKUP supports scaling in monday.com by letting you duplicate recipes inside board templates. Instead of rebuilding automation for every project or client, you can clone your workflows in seconds.

It’s the easiest way to scale efficiently without sacrificing integration.
